CRLL Local Rules

Division Descriptions

Local Rules are re-evaluated on an annual basis. Detailed rules for Baseball and Softball are posted in the side bar as soon as they have been approved by the CRLL Board of Directors.

Below is a brief description of the CRLL Divisions.

 

T-BALL (Baseball and Softball)

  • Typical age range: 4-5 years
  • Children that are "league age" 4 and 5 years old will be assigned to a T-ball team. If your child is 6 years old, and did not previously play T-ball, this may be a more appropriate level of play.  Contact the Baseball Player Agent or Softball Player Agent for additional information.

Spring BASEBALL DIVISIONS

A Division

  • Typical age range: 6 - 8 years
  • A is the first "coach pitch" division in CRLL. Children who are "league age" 6 cannot play in a "kid pitch" division according to Little League International rules. 

AA Division

  • Typical age range: 8 - 10 years
  • AA is the first "100% kid pitch" division in CRLL.
  • Children  "league age" 7 or older can play in AA.
  • New as of 2024- Players are the primary pitchers throughout the season. 

AAA Division

  • Typical age range: 9 - 11 years
  • AAA is purely a "kid pitch" division.
  • Traditional baseball rules are used for AAA games, with a few local rules that govern batting order and playing time for players in the field.

Major Division

  • Typical age range: 10-12 years
  • Major is purely a "kid pitch" division. Traditional baseball rules are used for Major games, with a few local rules that govern batting order and playing time for players in the field.
  • All 12 year olds must play Major unless a waiver is obtained from the District.

Intermediate (50/70)

  • Age range 12 and 13 year olds
  • This division uses a 70 foot base path and pitching distance of 50 feet.  

Junior Division

  • Age Range: 13 and 14 year olds
  • This division  is the first year for players to use the "big diamond;" 90 foot bases and pitching from 60'6". Teams play other Junior teams within our district throughout the season.

Spring SOFTBALL DIVISIONS

Farm (aka 8U)

  • Typical age range: 6 - 8 years
  • Outs recorded
  • Scores Kept (with run restrictions)
  • Limitations in place for advancing on passed ball and overthrow
  • Kid/coach pitch division
    • Player pitches with 1-0 count
    • Coach pitch completes at bat (no walks)

Minor (aka 10U)

  • Typical age range: 8 - 11 years
  • Outs recorded
  • Scores Kept (with run restrictions)
  • Fully Kid pitch division
    • Innings per week/game restrictions for players

Major (aka 12U)

  • Typical age range: 10-12 years
  • Major is purely a "kid pitch" division.
  • Traditional softball rules are used for Major games, with a few local rules that govern batting order and playing time.
  • All 12 year olds must play Major unless a waiver is obtained from the District.

Junior (aka 14U)

  • Typical age range: 12-14 years
  • Kid pitch division

Note: Juniors, Majors and AAA baseball

Juniors, Majors and AAA notation:  The following rules are in effect  when playing another league in District 54.  Our local rules apply with the exception of any differences noted.l
